Chalk Talks are a key component of faculty interviews and other informal presentations. But what does a Chalk Talk look like? We’ve curated some examples for you.
One-on-one and small group communication coaching for scientists, researchers and communicators
If you want to transform your communication skills, our one-on-one and small group coaching and mentoring offer a focused, personalised approach to help you communicate your research confidently, clearly, and impactful.
Why choose coaching?
Sometimes, group training sessions don’t fully address the unique challenges you face in your role, your goals, or the goals of your project group or team. Coaching is a fast-track solution tailored specifically to your goals, helping you overcome obstacles and develop skills in a way that’s efficient, empathetic, and highly practical.
Whether you are preparing for a faculty interview, want to be polished in a media engagement, need to design and deliver a critical presentation, or are navigating complex interpersonal dynamics, coaching provides the dedicated attention you – or your team – need to excel.

I worked with Suzanne to build my skills in developing and delivering a chalk talk in preparation for faculty positions. It was a real relief to find someone who doesn’t just understand communication, but also communication in the academic world. Frankly, it was amazing to find someone who understand what chalk talks are! We worked on skills development, as well as on my “personal stories” to tackle my concerns about my experience and competence, my non-native English, and my status as a foreigner applying for a position. I’ve come away from the coaching with more confidence, both in presenting and in myself and what I have to offer. And of course, I know how to give a chalk talk, too. Thank you, Suzanne. I’m sure we’ll work again.
